Tractor story
Diesel engine with heated head
Diesel engine Satima, produced in Triest, 12 HP.
It was used to run the mill in Poreč until electricity came and besides a few photos it is the only preserved part of the mill, which seized to function after moving to nearby Višnjan. The engine had one cylinder and a heated head, which means you could place a petroleum heating lamp and heat the engine up to a temperature of 500-700°C. After reaching the required temperature, fuel was injected and a fly-wheel was run manually, which led to self-ignition of oil allowing the engine to run on its own. Water was used to cool the engine and a strap-wheel to run the mill in the room next door.
